Original audio and visuals.
Inspired by a book.
A school project where I was required to create a 10 second motion graphic inspired by a book of my choice. I chose Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky; a dark, post-apocalyptic story set in the metro tunnels beneath the irradiated ruins of Moscow.
The visuals are simple, a dark metro tunnel, the lights being broken as some unknown thing approaches, evoking the paranoia and ambiguous supernatural elements of the story, then a hard cut to the title, where the Moscow Metro map expands from the “O” in “Metro”.
The audio works to support and extend the simple visuals. The hum of the lights, a rising train noise, and a steadily panicking geiger counter rise in intensity until the hard cut, where the scratchy noise emulates the previous geiger counter’s ticking. This further brings life to the striking visuals, and shows the post-nuclear aspect of the setting.
